I've always asked people how they can put a frameless tank on those Marineland stands when all the "other" frameless tank manufacturers states that the bottom needs to be cushioned.

This is a little scary...I have that same setup. It's been up a while and no issues yet. As someone else stated, this may be an isolated incident having to do with overtightened bulkheads or some other unique issue. At least that's what I'm telling myself...or maybe this tank is a disaster waiting to happen and I need to get a much larger tank immediately...

Yes this is the marine land 60 gallon, i still have my 150g tank so I'm going to just stick with that for awhile. not sure if ill ever be ready to do a cube again after this. My dog might be more upset than i am, he spends his whole day watching the fish and he was very confused why his new fish tank was outside.

I knew it !! You are the 11th person with a Marineland cube that this has happened to. I have my 93 cube ( Not marineland) on a marineland modern series stand and stand has Never gotten wet and is starting to fall apart at seams - Very Poor !!! I used to own a pet store and swore by their name brand.

Had the same happen to me, yes at night, what is it about night time that causes this?, It was a good excuse to up grade to a larger tank, it being an emergency. Lost fish but corals survived.

I’m really sorry this happened to you. Pretty much a nightmare of mine.

I need to thank you for making this post because I went to check if my rimless 65g C2C was supported across the whole bottom and it wasn’t. I freaked out, braced it the best I could and the company who did the install has agreed to come and breakdown my tank, and add the necessary support.

Again, sorry for the loss and thank you for sharing the story.

If you have a rimless where the the bottom isn’t floated then you should set the tank on 3/4” wood and a mat.

Holy cow! That is terrible, but it sounds like you had some luck with any damage to the room.

yeah i only had a little bit of spillage, the sump was the same size as the crack so it mostly just went back into the tank via the return pump.

That sucks and I can feel your pain, stress and anger. I had metal halides pendants that on two separate occasions fell into my 125 gallon reef tank. Fortunately, nothing died, no fires just damaged halide bulbs and cracked glass protective shields! Are you going to get another tank?

Sorry for the loss. FYI, the tank does indeed have a floating bottom and that stand is more than enough for it.

I had a similar experience Saturday night, we heard a cracking noise and then 10 minutes later the water started coming out but my 60 gallon cube was on plywood on same stand. now I'm Leary of what to put new one on, at least I was home to clean it up

Very sad. Sorry to hear this happened.
I saw the crack on one of the pics and it looks like it goes up towards the bulkheads which means they were over tightened.
Just to put a light on what may have caused it.

Do you think it’s because of how thin the glass was? If it was built with 1/2” thick glass no way could the bulkhead overtighten and crack glass. I presume it’s because those marinelands are like 1/8” thick lol

Thinner the glass easier to crack or break under pressure from bulkhead over tightening or pressure of water itself.
Although a 1/2" glass will also break under pressure due to over tightening but changes are less. Over tightening may cause stress and water pressure over time might crack a 1/2" glass as well. So all glass can break but thicker it is lesser the chance.
Best way to tighten a bulkhead is to place the gasket on the water side and fling/nut on the outside. Hand tighten to your best then use a tool to push it just a hair more.
