Well something decided to eat my PPE's & RPE's

Had a frag of 5 polyps for the longest time of PPE's (from Marv) and they seem to have been chewed on by something. First their skirts and then they melted. Same with the RPE's i had a frag of 10 polyps and im all down to 3 polyps. I have another frag of RPE's(5polyps) and its doing fine.

If someone wants to trade some PPE's for Rasta's or GPE's let me know....

if its some type of worm.....i'd stick a coral banded shrimp in there.......they are pretty good hunters of bristle worms if they get too big.

My first thought was pods, why do you suspect a worm? I never knew they were a palythoa predator.

i figured that was what was messing with my zoas before i moved, have had very little probs since adding the coral banded

Just wondering, do you think that a coral banded would predate on any pods as well?

I had a culprit eat all the skirts off my rpe's, and started on my ppe's while back. added a small lunar wrasse and nothing else has went skirtless sense. did not touch a pprpe are gpe frag right beside them though.

Have you seen any blue / gray colored astrena star fish (the small ones) in your tank? They will do what you described. I caught them 2 x on my ppe's. The skirt goes and then they melt away.

Large Ampipods.. be wary.. they love PE's... If you suspect some being chewed on, put them on frag racks away from your main rock work and sand.. you'll see a big difference right away and the frag/colony will recover.
