Okay, so make a long story short (since I am trying to quickly pack for my vacation that I leave for in a few hours), I made the venture to PetCo in Decatur today against my better judgement.

Sadness.

Apparently now they're carrying corals. It was sad. I'm pretty sure they don't even have the proper lighting for them... : (

Oh, & of course half of the fish have ich. There was a poor Harlequin dying a painful death in one of the top tanks, lying at the bottom & breathing heavily. It broke my heart. There were several dead Damsels being picked over by hermits on the bottoms of the tanks & an actual crab being sucked into an anemone. Scary.

Okay, time to finish packing & actually sleep. Have a great weekend, guys! ^.^

There is a big difference between what you allow to go on in your own tank & what a business does in theirs. These fish I saw were completely coated in it & some were actually dying. It wasn't like it was a small outbreak & it was being treated accordingly. BIG difference, so sorry, but no.

Yea one here had a 8" halarquin tusk and 6-8" lion fish in the same little tank. Maybe about 10-15 gal. It's sad what they do with some o these fish.

Did you bring it to managements attention? See I found some dead fish in several of our Walmarts tanks one day. I took pics using my phone. Went up front and asked for management. Where I informed them that I belonged to several fish forums and that these pics were going to make their way onto the web with the exact location of the store that the fish were being kept at.
I haven't seen their tanks like that since. Bottom line is, do something!!

Call PetCo corporate headquarters. We did that twice after seeing the treatment and condition of the SW fish. In one tank, a fish had died stuck to the overflow. It was left there to rot until all that was left was the tail and the outline of the fish. Now, the tanks are much cleaner and the employees act like they care. They too have a frag tank and it usually has some fair-looking LPS. SPS dont last long though. Call and let someone know. If you're persistant, changes will be made. Check out the PetCo at Tiger Town in Auburn/Opelika, AL. It's not that bad.......

Being the aquatic specialist at my local petco, we are all not like this and I have done wonders to improve the department in my two years. You should call corporate on them and if they are anything like our district than it will be fixed fast. Most of us care but its stores like this that give petco a bad name in sw .
