This morning my employee came in to water on the floor and all the prized sticks breathing air. Apparently the DC controller to the return pump has died. It was obvious that this happened long ago last night since the fish have rotted with snails either feasting on it or just showing bones. This sucks so bad. Lost a good amount of SPS I was going to bring to Macna and some auction items. Well guys learn from me. I'm kicking myself. If you don't have an overflow, make sure to glue your drain fitting so in case of a power outage or a pump failure your water doesn't trickle down to your sump and end up on the floor. :(

Very sorry to hear this Kenny hopefully you can rebound and save some of the sps. It's hard I'm sure but know you're a trusted vendor here and many people wish you well and will be waiting for the recovery and awesome new corals to come. You're a good guy keep your chin up and best of luck.

PM me and we can chat. I might not have anything you want but I'll sure as heck offer to give you some to help rebuild. I don't have much as a new SPS freak, but let me know.

Best of luck and keep on keepin on. :D

Man, that sucks dude!!! Sorry to hear that

Sorry to hear that kenny but it could be worse....I could be contacting you to let you know that the $400+ red sea regal died but I don't believe in kicking a fellow reefer while he's down so when you're back up and running again with another POTO regal, I will just do my part by supporting again with another purchase ; )

Thanks for all the encouraging words and support. But you're right Alex it could be worse. Btw sorry about the regal shoot me an email with a picture and I'll take care of it.

It's not a total loss, but enough to damper the mood, even if the corals survived they're in no shape to be brought the Macna. But after a few large WC to remove ammonia released by all the rotten fish and die offs, and getting a new skimmer pump overnighted since the hold one blew from running dry, I can assess the damage.

My guy sent me this photo that started it all yesterday when he was greeted by an empty tank, and snails feeding on a yellow tang.

Photos of the aftermath. It's interesting to note that some corals look as if nothing happened, while others didn't even have a chance. Even the same frags from the same colony reacted differently to being exposed to air overnight. Only the SPS and LPS sufferred. All softies survived.

RR Godzilla gone. SOTR and Blue Eyed made it.

Tyree's Wow Factor will make a comeback. Pink lemonade not so much.

WWC Yellow Tip barely hanging on, so is Tyree's Pinky the Bear.

One Red Planet made it, the other didn't. Both from the same colony

SSC looking very rough, but might just pull through.

Milka Stylo isn't going to make it. This was an auction item too.

Another auction item no more. CITR Red Dragon colony.

One of my back up pink lemonade colonies looks like will survive.

wow, so sad to see this. Thats terrible. How long do you think they were out of water??

I feel your pain, on some level, just went through a serious crash/equip failure, followed but an unexpected plumbing leak and lost most of my collection.

Best of luck on the recovery.

Sorry to hear about your troubles.

It stings real bad right now, but 5 years from now, you'll look back at this as a bump in the road that you learned from.

I hate seeing this stuff! Sorry to hear and hopefully there wasn't too much of a loss.
