Hello!

my husband and I are in contract on a new house that uses well water. We are having the well tested as part of the process and I am wondering whether I should add on other tests - like copper or anything? If so, what should we ask them to test for?

I use a five stage rodi system and will do so at the new place. If they find something, Is that enough as long as i keep current on swapping out media?

I think you will be fine. I am on well water and haven’t hooked up the RO yet, although it could vary a lot. If there is not mining near by you probably don’t have to worry about heavy metals but you could get an ICP test done.

I have a well also. That 5 stage should defiantly give you 0 tds. Stock up on sediment filters and DI resin as stated above. I go through them very fast.

Your DI depletes very fast because of high CO2. What quite a few people do is make RO water into a barrel, then let it gass off for a couple days, then using a pump, push it through the DI.

Plenty of threads on here on how to exactly do it.

I live in Northern Florida and have a very deep artisan well but even then I have sulfur dioxide in the water. I have a water softener and a 500 gallon settling tank that via sprinkling heads sprays the water from the well pump onto the surface of water in the settling tank thereby releasing the gas that forms in the water. The water from my tap (after the softener and settling tank is as good as any bottled water. I only use a 4 stage RODI filter and a booster pump. I would say I change the DI filter twice as much as someone on good tap water with low TDS.
