Anyone on well water and running into there ro/di unit for makeup and salt water?

I have notivced when input my hands in tank they feel extra "slippery" when I take them out

IC gel takes much longer to set up

And when washing hands or showering the soap takes much more rinsing to remove.

Does anyone have knowledge about this ?

My setup go from well to softener "possibly" to ro/di then to fresh water top off and holdin barrel for salt water prep. My colors in sps are not the best and lps struggling, lost all frog spawn. But may have been from alk spike

Any thoughts are appreciated

Brian

Before I moved I was on well water and never really seemed to have any problems your talking about..all my coral were growing great, and never really had much algae

If you're running through ro/di (test with tds meter for 0.0 tds) then the fact that it's coming from a well shouldn't matter. maybe your ro/di unit isn't working, maybe you have super high silicates, dunno. have you had your well water analyzed?

I use very high tds well water through my ro/di and it discolors the di resin in the first batch of water, but the water stays around 1-2 tds for a long time which I'm okay with.. I have no issues.. actually I use the water straight from the faucet in my planted tank, and I actually used it straight from the faucet for the first couple months on my SW tank when I first started SW..

I agree, the water softener is most likely the issue. You would need to adjust the settings to a lower setting so your water isn't so soft.
