Dropped by a friend's, he's trying to make tiny atolls in his system. Apparently, yes, you can have too much growth.

Ooh! I really like the tangled up labyrinth of calcium carbonate skeletons! Great job to him!

Well... All I can say is WOW! We should all have that problem. LOL How big is that tank? It looks like a large lagoon. :)

Their DT is a 180 but it's tied into a 50 gallon sump and a secondary 30 gallon cube so easily 250 gallons total. The green slimer has takien over the middle third with the blue tort struggling to keep up.

Look at the blue tort growing through the centre. If this isn’t what a natural tank looks like then I don’t know what does!

What size tank is this? This pic shows up on imgur as a 24g cube and is 8 years old. Much coincidence ?

When I first started reefing I wanted a “surge tank “

essentially it’s a large tank . Water is pumped to a container above the display . As the float rises it releases a large surge of water into the display

Creating a system to replicate high and low tide could be fun

Yep, I had one, bloody noisy but fun. A bell syphon type would be quiet (er).

That's why I stopped putting slimmer or torts in my tank. They don't look nice and they grow too fast. I wish I got rid of cap monti too
