Usually my wellso is pretty flat and still meaty, but today it looks like a ballon. It is in lower flow than it was before, so does it need more? Thanks

I’m not an expert at coral identifying, there are a few that are similar with subtle differences.

Wellsophyllia is folded brain coral and typically has a brain / maze shape. However when I google image search it I find both ones looking like yours and also the brain shape.

To me, that looks like an indophyllia

I do own a Wellsophyllia (folded brain style) and mine has the same behavior as yours. I do not know why they do this but have looked into it and it’s normal. It will go back in a few hours to a day

Interesting. Thanks!

Apparantly wellso was reclassified and included with trachyphyllia and both have the ability to inflate and move around with water current. Mine inflates but never has moved. I did read movement is less common in reef aquarium because our currents do not match the power of the ocean.

I do have a trachy also and have never seen it inflate. Maybe I have several corals all misidentified lol

You moved him, and he’s upset.
Give him a few days.

With the change in location, was a change in PAR.
May need some time to reset its photosynthetic process.

Gentle flow IME.

Opened up later today, par change was tiny- about 10 par. Just wanted less flow since he was creeping up on my gonis lol
