Wet/dry sump with protein skimmer

I just got a 100 gallon aquarium with a wet/dry sump with a protein skimmer with it. It looked alike it been modified and they took out the bio balls and put some rocks in there just wondering should I buy another sump with more room and put the protein skimmer in

I like bigger sumps so id get a bigger one. Id put that on a 50-100 gallon. But a skimmer will have micro bubbles in the display
