Hi everybody,
Can someone help me to understand what’s this? It’s growing on a rock

Something blue

It’s fluorescent, I had to switch on blue lights as it’s more visible in this way

Will need to use a flashlight or change the lighting. Any identification with blue lights is always difficult.

Hard to see the details, but look up ‘colonial hydroids’ in Google and see if that matches. If so, I recommend manual removal of what you can reach.
Agreed I have some too. At least we call them that in the hobby I’m pretty sure there’s a more proper term or it’s called something different lol. It’s strange because the amount of scientific info or photos on them seems like nonexistent. It’s all people saying this is what it is and all photos of reef tanks.

Thanks I googled it and it looks they are colonial hydroids.
Why are you suggesting removal? I like them…
Usually they are invasive and fast growing. That being said I have some isolated on a coral colony that haven’t spread but they do multiple quickly and can overtake coral space.

I see… so it’s not very fast growing but I’ll pay attention to it! Thanks!
