What’s a good salt mix

hey everyone so as of right now I get my salt water from my lfs and the salt they use gives me high calcium and alkalinity. I wanted to try my own salt and wanted to know what’s a good salt mix for good levels. I was looking at brs

That is a good mix. You will find there are as many opinions on this as there are brands of salt.

There really is no one better salt mix than another. They will all work. You just need to find one that mixes up closest to the numbers you are trying to keep. I have used IO, Reef Crystals, and Red Sea with good luck.

I like the Red Sea Blue bucket. Mixes at lower levels which works well with 2 part. Good luck!

I run Red Sea Pro and like it. It never mixes the Alk to 11 like they say it should, instead coming out to 8.4-8.8 on nearly every 5 gal batch with a salinity of 1.022. Now that I think about it, this may have something to do with the PH and ALK of my source water being fairly low after it's gone through my RO/DI unit.

The only thing about this salt that is a chore is the buildup in the mix bucket. It requires a 48 hour vinegar water soak every 2-3 months to remove it.

Find something available locally for simplicity sake. I like cheap and readily available so Instant Ocean is what I use.

I personally use Red Sea blue bucket and really like it. It mixes up clear in 5 minutes and the parameters are right where I want them.

I have used HW reefer marine mix since I started mixing saltwater back in August. Went with it based on reviews and recommendations. It has worked well for me. Consistent parameters and mixes really well with zero residue in my 55 gallon mixing container. I cannot compare it to any other brands though since it is the only one I have used. I figure consistency is important, and have not had any reason to change.

I use Fritz blue box. I get it cheap from the LFS. He sells it cheap to bring people in. Smart. It seems to be pretty consistent, and doesn't seem to precipitate in the mixing tub like the Reef Crystals used to.
