To be honest I just watch my ph. I can dose with 2 part and then after a day I go from 8.2 to 8.8

What are your parameters? #reefsquad
Well,
Got to have those.

Cal
Alk / and stable, on that parameter
Mag
Phosphate
Nitrate

@Reefcube
How long has your reef been setup?

2 years. I know. I’m bad about checking those. I just go off looks which is not the right way.

So what’s my next step? What test should I buy to get back on track ?
I would get Hanna checkers or Red Sea test kits for the parameters GoVols listed. These have been more accurate than API and Salifert in my experience. Also invest in a Refractometer and a Refractometer Calibration Solution.

Basically you need to test your water parameters for the ones listed above by @GoVols already, so you either need to buy test kits for each, or go to your LFS and ask them to do the tests for you. Also if you haven’t got one, you need a refractometer for salinity

The water is the environment in which your corals live, so if any of these parameters are ‘off’ they will soon tell you

This is a very good and detailed article that will guide you to were you need to be on these parameters :

Just remember all you are is a ‘keeper of water’ and if you get that right, all will be good (hopefully!lol)

Any fish that could be nipping?

So calcium is 500-520. Everything else is good.

Can you post the numbers and what test used? Everyone's definition of good is surprisingly different on this subject. I have found Salifert very clost to my ICS testing on Calcium and alkalinity......magnesium, not so much.

What is your salinity with a calibrated refractometer?
