What’s my Hammer Doing?

Past week or so, my hammer has started making, putting out a few long polyp tentacles. At first it was just one, now we have several.

Mine does the same thing periodically. Doesn't seem to cause any damage. Don't know why. Following.

Sweepers. What’s to the right of it? How close is that frag rack? Something has it in threat mode. If it doesn’t find anything with the sweepers it will retract them back. I had one get into it with a chalice. The chalice lost.

The frag rack is actually quite far away. There IS an orange crush echinata on the tonga branch to the left. I’ve been watching them, they aren’t close enough to touch and neither has looked like they were upset. Also, if it’s the acan, wouldn’t the hammer have put out sweepers on THAT side?
