What’s my mushroom doing?

So I came home today to find my Green Hairy Mushroom with this brown string coming out of the center. I’m not certain what’s going on, I’ve read that it could simply be pooping, and I’ve read that it could be mesenterial filaments.

Anyone have any idea?

mesenterial filaments are white. It’s probably pooping

Pooping as they do occasionally. They don't do well on the bottom as sand gets all over them. Lower 3rd of tank up to the top is a good range as is feeding (necessary)
