What’s my next step!?

Recently picked up a Tomini and was very excited as he looks very nice physically.
He is swimming all over the QT and eats great! I’m feeding medicated, pellet, my sis, spiralina ( I defrosted and made the blend) that is medicated with metroplex, kanaplex and focus.

Below is a video of some head shaking that has me a bit concerned.

I’m currently running a 29g qt with 1.025 sg.

.5 copper (cupramine) and a dose of prazi for the past 7 days. Did a 4 day wc and replaced copper and prazi with the appropriate removed 8 gallons. Copper tests still show a .5 and I have no way of checking the prazi but I did read dosing instructions.

Should I be patient and just continue what I’m doing or is there something more to help this beautiful fish?

Your video isn't showing up.

Make sure you're agitating the water as much as possible, copper and prazi together are going to greatly reduce O2 levels. Don't know if thats contributing to the head shaking, but just something to keep in mind

Also the sponge and power head are both directed at the surface to allow best gas exchange possible. Thank you for reminding me though!

I don't see anything that causes immediate alarm for me. But lets see if @HotRocks or @4FordFamily are on, they're fish and disease experts and would have a better idea

I would try a freshwater dip in a dark bucket based on the video. It could just be odd behavior but it wouldn’t hurt to be safe. If you see sesame seed looking things drop off you have prazi resistant flukes.

I did an initial dip for 4 minutes and an air stone. Nothing in the bucket afterwards. The tang has become more active using the entire water column now and head shaking has reduced. I will continue what I’m doing and hopefully it’s working. There is some odd things on the bottom that I will take a pic of when I get home.

@4FordFamily update for you.

Below is a link to a recording, take a look at the breathing, seems rapid. I turn off filter and power head (1-2 minutes) to better target feed my medicated food mixture and the tang has really taken to it eating 2x per day. The head shaking has stopped thankfully. But there is a two maybe three small white spots (thinking ich)

Again I’m treating with .5 copper and a dose of prazi. Also feeding metroplex and kanaplex Mixed food daily. I’m due for a water change today. Is there something else I should do? Please advise me.

9 days of copper the fish shouldn’t have ich, especially not new spots.

See if they come off with a prazi bath, these can be more effective. The white stuff you see is mucous around an insertion point or injury. So it can happen with many different ailments. Ich is of course the vast majority of spots that size but prazi resistant flukes are also somewhat common.

See if they come off with a prazi bath, these can be more effective. The white stuff you see is mucous around an insertion point or injury. So it can happen with many different ailments. Ich is of course the vast majority of spots that size but prazi resistant flukes are also somewhat common.

I’m using the seachem test kit for copper and comparing with their .5 standard they are spot on with each other. So what would the recipe be for a prazi soak? It doesn’t seem that my bottle has a soak recipe.

The bottle has the bath procedure, I always found it instead of what i wanted (normal prazi QT dose haha). It's in a different area of the bottle I believe. I don't remember off-hand but I want to say it was a much higher concentration, some 5-10 times. @HotRocks do you remember off hand?

To clarify, you are administering prazipro and cupramine together? If so, that could be causing the heavy breathing as these two medications shouldn’t be combined.

Ich is the worst of the two evils and cupramine will help suppress flukes and buy you time to tackle one thing at a time. However, make sure you're actually dealing with ich. The photos you posted aren't super clear and the white spots you're seeing could easily be lympho caused by a suppressed immune system with all those meds.

Here is a thread on lympho so you can diagnose properly since you're standing right in front of the fish.

So the little dots are still present and after a second FW bath again, nothing is falling off. The fish seems to be doing well but visual is not improving. I've since removed the cupramine and now am dosing prazi, 6 ml to the 29 gallon QT. I've been on the prazi for 2 weeks now. I've also been re dosing prazi every 4-5 days.

I'm not really sure where to go from here.

How long in fully therapeutic copper? If not 30 days or 14 and a full transfer to another sterile tank sharing nothing from the first then it could be ich or velvet.
