What’s on my sand bed ???

Hi guys,

My tank went through a few months without maintainance. Got red slime … bubble algae .. and prob more. Just finished doing a good cleaning but there’s this “gunk” left on the bed. Hard to vacuum and/or scoop up. What is this?? And how can I take it out? Thank you !

did you WC at all? what are params? could sand and gunk that hardened with low alk and PH

Yes I did a complete 50% water change. Will that go away on its own?

no. Do you have anything in your tank rn? also, did you feed the tank at all? it may not be cycled anymore.

Yes i have 4 fish in there. It’s a 7 year old established tank

CUC would be the way to go then.
