What’s on my snail

What is my snail carrying around? Can GHA get “stalks” if left alone long enough? Would it hurt the snail if I scrubbed the shell with fresh water in my sink? I’m thinking not.

i have a snail like that reminds me of the trolls we had with all the long crazy colored hair so i leave him be LOL

if it bothers you just take an old tooth brush to him

+1 to cleaning it. It is possible for the snail to spread algae as it move arouns.
If this is regular green hair algae it should die off as you treat the tank against algae by reducing po4 no3. But if this is bryopsis as an example, it can be a nightmare and the snail will be a villain spreading it around.
From the picture it loom like GHA but it's not very clear..

I’m halfway through a fallow period. .5 NO3 (if that) and 0.00 PO3 which I’m certain is due to all the algae soaking it up. Growth is slowing down. I was scrubbing weekly, then biweekly. This time I made it 3 weeks and it wasn’t horrible.

I think you good then. Look like natural algae phase during a cycle or mini cycle..

Tank is still young. Around 7 months.
