Find an old Canon rebel body and pair with a used Tamron 90mm macro lens (VC if you can swing it).

Camera snobs will scoff at this setup but if your just getting in, this will be enough to start learning on and you could get into a setup like this for $500-$600 all in if you shop the second hand market for deals.

Honestly, to an extent, it's more about the lens you buy. You could have a cheaper camera but a lens that works very well for what you need, and this would be better than a more expensive camera and a ill-suited lens
