What’s this algae?

Grows like moss. Came on a piece of live rock. Difficult to remove and only urchins seem to eat it.

Definitely not hair algae.

Looks to be green hair algae. Usually a sign of excess nutrients present in the system. Beautiful mushrooms by the way.

I don’t think it is. Very thick and tough. Can pull off small chunks

No string like bristles. Grows like a mat or moss.

Googled and it does appear to be turf algae.

Guess I’ll try an urchin and glue down any frags.

Any other suggestions?

It’s turf....
Fluconazole works for this as well as bryopsis and gha.

Something you may want to look into that I mentioned earlier, this algae grows when there is excess nutrients in the system. Maybe track down the source of them whether it be bad ro/di water, over feeding, not frequent enough water changes, or other methods of nutrient export.

Those parameters make sense though, if you have algae it's consuming the nutrients so you'll show 0

I agree. Keep it there like a canary in a mine. One you see it start receding you're on the right track with nutrient export.

Or add an herbivore fish and you'll never see any algae like that, except in your sump. Especially if you've got room for a Foxface.
