hey everyone I have something going on in my tank. My tank used to be spotless only coralline growing. When I went to rap ny I got a anemone and 3 days after having it my flame angel goes missing ‍♂️ Don’t know if he was eaten or what but can’t find anywhere and was a healthy fish. Couple days later I was getting lots of diatoms but not sure then this algae stuff. Tested my phosphate with the Hanna checker and it’s only 0.03ppm and api nitrate kids reads below 5 to zero hard to tell. Will post before and now photos.

Your tank looks new (less than a year). This is normal in the progression to maturity and stabilization. Get a tooth bruch and manually remove it prior to weekly water changes. Eventually, it will stop growing back.

Do you have a decent clean up crew? Good to get them in early to keep the algae in check before it can get a head start. Just don’t get too many as don’t want to starve them if they do a great job.

That's kinda odd. Usually you see all manner of diatoms and the rocks turning all sorts of different colors before noticeable clumps of coraline.

Afraid you may have been spoiled by luck so far ;)

May be that you've inherited some sort of algae from the new addition. Those air bubbles scare me.
Where is your flame angel? Did it jump? No way the nem ate the whole thing... right?

It did not jump I have a lid and I could not find it anywhere in the tank. Tank is 7 months old and I went through the diatom/algae faze Added 4 corals and the anemone and then the angel went missing now I got this

How big's the Anemone in comparison to the Angel?? It must be pretty big to have eaten it, any photos?

Good catch; I hadn't noticed to coraline.

Flame angel was prob around 2.5 almost 3 inches

You never answered, do you have any CUC?

Did you have any Ammonia spikes after it went missing that could have upset the balance and kicked off a mini cycle from the death of a fish? That could explain the diatoms after it went missing.

We all get Algae at some point, sometimes we even need it for grazers/micro grazers in our tanks but the CUC usually tries to keep it in check and prevent the uglies.
