What’s this thing in sump?

just noticed this thing (root, sponge, or??) in sump. It’s releasing something in water, looks like some sort of denser liquid. White (ivory in color) less than 1/4” attached ( or part of) macro roots... my wildest guess is sponge spreading sperm?

I believe those are part of the mangrove's rhizomes. I have no idea what the liquid may be but it could possibly a hormone that stimulates further production of roots?

They are not on mangrove roots they are on the leafy thing (don’t remember name)

Yup

So the white things with orange tips on the mangrove petioles...I doubt their sponges which are usually more porous in nature. Possibly a tunicate or some other sort of ascidian? Now I've never kept mangroves before so maybe it's just a phase that they have? One thing that comes to mind is the tubercules on legume plants that store mycorrhizae but I don't think mangroves do that. Hoepfully someone else has a definitive answer. Try posting this on the macroalgae forum too or the mangrove forum if we have one

This, I think, is too small to be anything mangrove - it's stuck to a stem of Caulerpa (Sometimes, when the photos are this good, the scale of things can be hard to read!).

I've no idea what it _is_, though . . .
