Just saw this last night, I’m wondering if it’s safe or not.

I’m still new to this but it looks like a very large bristle worm. Not 100% sure though

I dont see much detail, but differences between a fireworm and a regular bristleworm.

Fireworms are larger, in both length and girth.
When laying unstreched a fireworm maybe a foot long and perhaps .5-.75 inches wide.
The side bristles are going to look like numerous small paint brushes. These are actually where the fireworm gets its name as when touched these detachable chaete are left behind in the victim. Some posses a painful toxin as well.

Brittleworms are much smaller typically they are smaller perhaps reaching 8 inches. Streched they can appear much longer. But mainly are much thinner. Perhaps only .5 cm wide. And the “bristles” are more like single small pegs. Instead of hundreds of going down their sides.

Here’s some more pictures if it helps

If there is tufts of reddish hair at the base of the bristles....which it appears in the last pic than id toss it out.
I agree, red is usually an indication of a fire worm. Best way would be to tempt it with food and net it out. If it doesn't come all the way out you can try a home made trap out of a bottle.

Use a trap or very carefully with feeding tongs.

Trap put some food in a small mouth container let it crawl in. Then remove container.

Tongs dont squeeze too hard they can easily be cut in half.

Yup, and if you cut them in half, you now have two worms o_O

Just checked to see if it was under my rocks, didn’t find it. Do they hide in holes of rocks?

The gooey the frozen foods yes, i find san fran brand useful for things like this. Frozen brine or mysis quickly breaks apart. And may leave the bottle.

Didn’t catch it, looked on Sunday morning. Didn’t see it come out Sunday night like it did on Friday. I just find it weird that I’ve just seen it on Friday when there have been nights before I’ve been up till 2 and looked and never saw anything like it

You must hunt it.
Yeah I tried Sunday, lifted all the rocks up, nothing, tried to look thru all visible areas in rock, nothing. I heard they can dig deep in sand, but I already caused enough of a sandstorm with just moving rocks lol
