What’s up with this gsp?

Why does this gsp do this when lights are out? Is it just the way it’s growing, new growth, or what?

Mine close up at night those are just the stalks with the polyps retracted

Yup those " tongues" are new flesh spreading out u can cut them off and rubber band to a rock then you'l have some frags to trade

I call them ears. I just cut them and glue on a frag.
