Hey guys, newbie reefer here and wondering what is going on with my candy cane? It’s been great looking since added to tank, dipped initially with coralrx as well as all the others that are doing great to. Looks like something was nipping at it. Only have 2 clowns, 6 trochus snails and a conch in there. Have never seen clowns even close to any corals but I’ve seen the snails graze close by to it. Could that have agitated it?

I believe I see a tube sticking out which may be a tube worm or vermetid. Remove that tube at the base with a needlenose OR place a Small dab of gel superglue over the opeing and worm within will starve.
Will tissue grow back- It stands a good chance
Your levels seem to be good

I can see the vermatid on the side. It is mesentary filaments coming out. Defense. Did it get stung by other coral anytime recently?

I will look at that, I seen that this morning as well. Havnt seen anything else on any others. Thanks

Shipped in the mail? Probably got a bit of damage along the top edge.
Yes came from POTO. Was not damaged when put it the tank. Just showed up this morning, was fine last night. I clipped that tube looking thing off, wasn’t sure if it was Vermited snail or not cause it wasn’t very hard. Almost gooey

Maybe snail scratched the flesh on the skeleton or something or possible damage from shipping just showing up now. I couldn't see any vermetid snail in the photo..I don't think they would cause that if there was.

I am curious about your feeding and nutrient levels though. .2ppm nitrate? .03 PO4 is on the low side also. If both those numbers are correct you might need to increase feeding. You could also try a little target feeding at night when the feeder tentacles are out.

Yea I believe it was snail induced, I seen him graze the side of it earlier that day. I don’t believe it was a vermetid as it wasn’t hard like I read it would be.
I feed every other day but have since turned skimmer off an started feeding daily.
