my royal gramma had a large flesh wound on its side. LFS recommended ice-x. I used it for 10 days following instructions to the t. After 10 days I saw what to me looked like little improvement so I discontinued use (2 days ago), I did notice the wound was all white but as of a few days ago there is now a brownish spot within the affected area. The brownish spot appears to flap a bit when the fish swims or with the water flow. Anyone have an idea of what it is? I’ve attached a few pics

32.5 gallon tank. Tank mates are 2 clownfish, 1 bi color blenny, 2 small bta. No aggression between any of the fish. No other fish show any signs of distress or injury.

Uronema can cause lesions like this, and royal gramma are susceptible, but it usually kills fish in a few days. I think this is a secondary bacterial infection, and the brown area developing is part of the healing process, granulation material (like a scab?). Ich-x isn’t useful for this issue. The fish will probably heal on its own from this point, but to treat it, you would need to move it to a treatment tank and dose with a broad spectrum, gram negative antibiotic, like Neoplex.

If that is what it is, do I need to worry about it transferring to another fish? No signs of distress or illness yet on any of the others.

Looks like some sort of wound or bacterial infection??

Unlikely to be contagious, most bacterial infections develop from bacteria already present in the tank.
The lesion hasn’t gotten larger in recent days, right?
