Can anyone tell me what’s causing my goniopora coral to start turning white from the base up? All Parma’s are good! 125 gallon mixed reef with 30 gallon sump. All other lps and sps are doing great.

Hmm, assuming the parems you listed have been stable. Looking at your tank i'd say thats likely.

The only other thing I can think of would be feeding. Do you feed it in anyway? From everything i've read it seems a lot of times these starve to death, although its normally at around 6 months.

You might have just gotten unlucky with this one.

The green Goni’s are very difficult and usually are best left either with experts or in the ocean.

They have a very poor survival rate. It isn’t turning white, it’s tissue is receding and dying.

I feed a mixture of reef chili and coral frenzy but I do not target feed!

Gonioporas can be notoriously difficult to keep long term. They die off and I am not sure anyone has a solid handle on why this is the case.

It is believed that red gonioporas are more robust with better expected longevity than green/brown ones. However this may just be anecdotal and based on particular individual experiences.

I have 6 different colors of goni and they all thrive and even make baby. I dont do any special feeding beside feeding the fish and 3x reef roid per week. Just keep your tank parameters stable and dont touch them.
