What’s wrong with my hammer?

So yesterday I got a box of coral in the mail. All seemed fine so dipped them and put them in my tank. All the corals except for one is doing great now. My new splattered hammer coral is completed recessed and brown. And this happened all in one night. Was fine yesterday. All my params are good. Salinity is at 1.026. Calcium at 430. Mag at about 1300 which is a bit low but I am working on it and my other corals are doing wonderful so that can’t be the issue. Ammonia and nitrates are zero. Thinking about doing a water change. Right now I have the hammer in a QT.

I would give it some time, it may just be super stressed from shipping. I would keep it in Low-med light and flow for now.

could it possibly me brown jelly disease? I don’t want any of my other corals getting it if it is.

Doesn't look like JBD. Leave it alone for a few days. Place it low in your tank, they usually take a little while to adjust.

Looks like the last stage in a dying Euphyllia. The center will brown and decay once the rest has receded. So sorry. You can try to put it in a qt tank. Moving it around the display tank, will most like not help at this point.

I don’t see any signs of BJD from the pictures provided.

Because of the coloration of segmented brown spots near where the mouth should be. It’s a sign the flesh has worn away. The mouth should be dead center there and instead it’s replaced with bits of bumpy brown decaying flesh

I didn’t get a picture. I got it in an over night box in the mail. And it was retracted mostly green like it should be. Got it acclimated and put it in the tank waiting for it to open to get a pic. But it never opened and after one night it looked like that.

Touch base with them maybe they will replace it I never order corals to worried lol I have a gold hammer just above the green scoly I just went to the frag farmers market in Ct great show been going since it started 2008 here’s my tank started in

Same thing happened when I added salt directly to my aquarium. Hammer recreated for a day. The next day it looked like that, then a day after it was almost all white. It is not BJD but the flesh did die and turn brown.

Looks like you might need a refund. But I've had them come back from that condition too.

we don’t know how much flesh may be left. If this was caused by brown jelly you would at least see traces of it on remaining flesh as well as skeletal septums

I had a heater break, tank got to 98 degrees and killed a 20 head. All that was alive was one tentacle on one head. I frag the one head and now it's back thriving.
