Still deteriorating, someone please help.
Don’t wanna be the cause of this things death.

How old is your tank? It looks less than a year old.

IMO it might do better in a more established tank.

Yeah a more established tank would be better for a brittle star but I'm no expert. It looks like it has an infection of some type. Hope someone on R2R can give you a better answer.

Get it away from the peppermint shrimp. Those things eat everything it seems. If you saw them pick at it once, then they are probably still eating it when you aren't around to watch. Doesn't matter which ones go where, but they do need to be separated. Besides, they are eating your corals too. There could still be an infection from the wounds inflicted by the shrimp. Not sure how to treat serpent stars for infection.

Stuck it in my refugium this morning.

I hope he recovers.

I hope so too.
But I get less optimistic everyday, I’m on day 18 since I first noticed, haven’t been able to get it to eat at all.
I’m assuming it has to be eating something though I’m just not seeing it.
But whatever it is seems to be spreading throughout the legs.

Lost a leg after the move but it’s still kicking

Peppermints aren’t helping in the cause.
I would suggest to take a water sample to a trusted LFS and have them test the water and see what readings they get and to compare with your tests

I sumped the starfish, the peppermint can’t get at him anymore.
I will look into getting the water tested.

Starfish is going to die.
It’s entire oral disk is exposed.
Theres not really a head left.
I’ll spare you guys photos...

Hey guys...that starfish is still alive speaking to the resilience that @Bryson.bobby spoke of.
I thought for sure it was a goner.
included are pictures from the moment I decided it was going to die and what it looks like now.
The lost leg hasn’t grown back yet, it’s still sumped. I’ll leave it there until it’s fully recovered, seems happy and is eating again
