What a Difference 20k is!!!!

Take the bulb out and put it back in, sounds like you got a contact not completely in contact.

Is this the 150w Radium?

Is it a radium?? They only run on the HQI ballasts or electric ones. They don't work on magnetic ballast cuz i had the same problem.

It is the radium, and the bulb as in there perfectly in place and complete.

What ballast?

Current-USA Sunpod. Other people have it working just fine on the same setup.

Jeff, did you get that bulb to stay lit yet?

Nope, it is officially burned out. Inside the arc on the bulb, its all black. My old bulb doesnt even have that much burns. Im calling hellolights.com on Monday, hopefully get a replacement.

Hellolights has great customer service so it should not be a problem. Just my two cents I just went from a sunpod to a 250 pendant with the pheonix 14k and absolutly love it. They offer that bulb in a 150 also if thats what you have. Give that one a shot and I promise you wont regret it. Gives awsome color and good Par

I cant afford another one for a long time lol. I heard good things about the Phoenix but I really like the color the radium puts out.

Alright, just to update. I spoke with Hello Lights, and they Fedex Express Saver'ed me a new light free of charge. I slapped it in and it ran for the remaining 2 hours of my photoperiod for today with no problem and the same awesome color as before.

I hope it works well this time. If it was going to mess up this time, I would have thought that it would have started turning off rather quickly, but I dont want to speak too soon. Tomorrow is a 9 hr photoperiod, and Ill be home all day to ensure that if it turns out, the tank doesnt swing into crisis. Ill update again tomorrow night

Good to hear you got a new bulb going. Is the Radium very blue??? I'm doing a 150 DE on my new tank can't decide phoenix or radium

I dont know who said it, or if it was even on this site, but they described it as a very "pale blue." Its really blue with a touch of white in there as well. Its very blue though. If you like the 14k look with a tad more color than the average 14k offers, the Phoenix is for you. If you like color and enjoying the corals appearance more, then 20k is the right one.

I mean my tank is only 19.75" deep, so I think a 150 watt 20k over that really wont be too much of a difference from 14k, regarding intensity. Either way, I love it

Really has nothing to do with 20k, but I am getting my first MH and I have a few ???.
My tank is a 56 Column 18"x30"x25"deep. The light is an off brand, but it's a 250watt HQI 15k with 4 moon LED. The fixture is 24" wide (has legs, but not sure how tall)so I have to build a frame for it. How far off the water should I keep it? I plan to use screen to acclimate the light, how many layers...for how long? Can I change the bulb to a better brand even though the fixture is not top-o-the line?

Thanx a ton
Michael
