Lfs store had atip infestation, the water stunk, snails had strange stinging growths on shell, hermit crabs that eat coral chowing down.. For 12 bucks I decided to test the hardiness of Favia because quarantine was just not going to cover the strange that was festering. So thankfully it's aquacultured and pretty common. Things Favia cannot tolerate: temp fluctuations, salinity swings, handling even with gloves. Otherwise Favia is a pretty hardy and forgiving coral, great first time coral keeping type. This one appears to be barfing zooxanthellae.. Once you see the skeletal structure sticking out of coral like this, it's pretty much a goner. It might sprout even after this.. but as long as something was learned, it was worth 12 bucks.
