What a great site

Thanks for being such a great site. Came here looking for advice on getting a new protein skimmer. Such a great site, I have decided to join. I have a 150 gallon reef tank, with continual problems keeping my SPS alive. I have now learned that my mushroom coral is putting off something that is killing the SPS. Dang shame.
I currently have an Octopus Extreme 200 that is a really good skimmer, but too big for my sump. I have to take it apart inside the sump to get to the skimmer!!!!
I also have the Solaris LED lighting system which I absolutely love. It is a real shame that some greedy SOBs yelled patent infringement :crossedlips: and put them out of business. And then did nothing about coming up with something better.
Looking forward to learning more and more on R2R site.

I'm sure you'll fine plenty of info here and lot's of great people willing to help.

Honestly though, PFO has no one but themselves to blame for what happened to them. Unfortunately those who purchased lighting from them are the ones that have to suffer.

Yeah, Leathers are more likely to put off some toxic stuff as battle techniques than shrooms, but shrooms are potent. Have you tried running a carbon reactor full time? I run a VERY mixed reef with Ferric Oxide and Carbon reactors and have no issues. Of course, there could be other things going on... But this might be a good place to start. Oh and WELCOME TO R2R!!!

Welcome aboard! This is the best site I have been a part of! You will love the people here. I have only been here about a month or so and alot of people have made me feel like part of their family.

I have never heard about mushrooms putting off some chemical that messes with SPS. I knew leathers do thats why I don't have them in my SPS tank but I do have shrooms. I will have to look that up.............can you post a link if I can't find what I'm loooking for?
