My son asked if I wanted to take a ride to a LFS in the area...I felt like getting out of the house so I went...There in the corner of one of the tanks I see a HUGE colony of Palys...really HUGE and I have to get my glasses on cause I can't believe what I'm seeing here. It is either a colony of Ding Dang PE's or Marshian PE's...I spotted the color almost across the room. Individual polyps are at least 1/2" and most being almost 3/4" across. There are easily over 50 polyps on this thing...more like 60 or 70. I'm still acclimating it right now and then it will get a quick dip and a once over for any nasties. I can't wait to take some pictures tomorrow. I noticed a few pairs of polyps in the bag cause this thing is growing right off of the rock...when he picked it up it had grown onto the sand already. I'm looking forward to glueing them on a frag plug for trades....

After they have settled in, I am going to donate a LARGE frag to the Premium Members drawing...just food for thought here....

LOL! Awesome!! Don;t you love those trips? :D

Yep...I meant what I said Dave...I will be putting a large frag of this up for a R2R premium members drawing as soon as I know it is settled in...that is if you will do the honors of drawing a winner when the time comes!!

Congrats! I'm still looking for that LFS around me...

Diamonds in the ruff, baby. Sometimes the LFS owners don't have time to look at what they really have because of worry of all the livestock they just got. Chalk one up for the discerning reefer.

But of course I will! How generous of you! :D

Which LFS did you go to? I went to Sea Schor and they had lots of deepwater and some Aussie Paly colony but didn't pull the trigger on them.

Here is LESS than a third of the colony....so far I have a 9 polyp frag... a 13 polyp frag...2 polyp frag.
I do not have small hands....these have been dipped in tank water and pro coral cure. I have a 15X lighted magnifying glass that I use to check for eggs and pests. That's how I ended up with the colony fragged up. I didn't want to miss any nasties. Most of these polyps are bigger around than a pencil.

Go Fish on Humphrey Drive in Orland Park...The plate corals, acans and micromussa's were amazing. He had some SPS corals that were blinding me they were so bright, including many deepwater colonies...it took A LOT of control not to walk out with more....MUCH MORE!!

Oh, and 2 more pieces like the one pictured above...I think I was way low on my polyp count...I count 42 on the top picture and it's not the largest of the pieces.

Sopranos!!

:xd:Just got some sopranos!!:xd:
