i just finished scraping all of this off the walls but the green stuff close to the sand bed grows all over my walls. I don't know what type of algae this is and my snails do a terrible job trying to eat it. i have had 13 snails in the 13 gallon tank and the weren't able to keep up with it. what type of algae is this and what will eat it more efficiently. i have hear about tuxedo urchins but i don't want to accidently starve it because there isn't enough algae for it.

I do not know the name of that algae but every tank with lights wil eventually get it. I get it in my tank and drape it off every 4-6 days. It is normal and natural. It won’t effect anything in your tank but fish and invertebrates will eat it. When you scrap it it is a good filter feeder food too.

nothing to worry about. Just get a magnetic carpet and you will be fine.
