Ok... tank has been up and running since end of July. No gfo or carbon. Just running a skimmer. Top of rock sits at about 320 par for six hours.

Everything else:
Mag - 1425
Cal - 470
Alk - 8
Phos - .00ppm (salifert)
Nitrate - 2 ppm

T5s run from 2pm - 8pm 2 blue plus, 1 purple plus and 1 geissman aquablue coral

Radion schedule is ab+

Should I get my uv and fuge setup?

Are we looking at the green stuff? Looks like the beginnings of GHA to me, good CUC should take care of that, if you are already planning on setting up a fuge it wouldn't hurt either.:)
Might need a better picture of it to be sure though...

Am I reading your LED schedule correctly looking like 10 hours? 2 hours starting before t5 turns on. So your blasting for 6 hours with t5 I get it but you'll have to lay off the LED or you always fight the algae. A fuge will help like others said but anything over 6 hours total, is only feeding algae.

Yes the ab+ schedule. I'm only ar 200-300 par in the middle third of my tank for 6 hours.

I would get a second opinion on P04.

Was the rock dry or live (curred)?
Two months in you will still have the chance of the nasties.
15lbs live and 20lbs dry... it ran in a brute can for a month prior

I would get a LFS to test for P04.

Chances are the rock is leaching out nutrients, fueling the GHA. It may have to run it's course till it's done.
No lfs here or close. Have Triton test coming tomorrow I'll send off. Also had typo, using red sea test kit for po4.

How long has the system been up and running?

What I have found and it does not happen all the time:oops: is balancing the nutrients. Phosphates between .02 to .o4 and nitrates between 3 ppm to 5ppm:)

As they all say, it maybe just enough to fuel the algae, but won't register in the water collum/test. If it get worse, cuc, vibrant, nopox. .. .. ...

So You Guys , don't mind using products mentioned for algae control ? Just curious .
Reaccimate , Your tank is still pretty young at 3 months . The algae isn't bad at all yet.
consider getting a bunch of snails in there .

Yeah I was hoping I was just missing something else. Dry rock soaked in rodi for a month and then in a brute can with the live rock another month in salt water.

I'm going to get the fuge and uv started this weekend and send out the Triton test.

Thanks all! I'll do an ammonia test this evening and see if anything looks fishy. I had bought the 40g CUC from reefbreeders and put half in the sump a few weeks back. I'll move them into the DT and get a couple good water changes in. Also going to get UV plumbed into my return and the fuge up and running.

I would definitely lay off those first couple hrs and last couple hrs on the leds. Go to blue only low light if you must have it on at those times. But like I said over 6 hrs isn't beneficial to the corals in any way, only algae.
