What am I doing or not doing?

We have a 15G nano. It has a couple of live rocks, a paired set of clowns, 2 snails, and a cleaner shrimp. We recently added 2 coral, a n AI prime HD light and installed a slightly larger filter with a built in protein skimmer.

The rocks are getting fuzzy and changing colors. There is now a large black area on one and specs on others. There are a couple of rust colored spots and purple spots.

There is also a brown algae looking thing going on as well. We have the tank serviced bi-weekly and it has cycled already. We are about 6-7 weeks in I believe.

Should I be doing something or not doing something?

We feed them TetraCo flakes and it’s all gone within a few minutes.

The coloration is not accurate in the picture so I hope I described it well enough.

A new tank (under a year old) may go through quite a few stages of algae, diatoms, and potentially cyano as the tank stabilizes. Looks like you are doing well so far!

I don't see a heater on the tank though. How are your temperature swings?

The heater is hidden inside the filter so it is a constant temp. Should not be any or very small at worst.

Your new tank will go through several phases of algae growth and die off....all normal

Looks like you could have a flow issue maybe think of adding a powerhead.

Add a power head like a nano hydor 425 for some additional flow and point it upwards and place it on the back wall. Place it on a timer so you have it ON for 30min each when your lights are ON. That will also help
