I just got home from work, looked at my tank, and I see a ton of tiny very small, clear bugs crawling all over my glass. Hundreds of them, looks like they have little baby antennas. Tank is two months old, has a few corals in it, two of the corals I did not dip. Everything else, including my chateo has been dipped. I did get two frags from a buddy, off those frags I saw a few pods run off. I tried to take a picture of them, but can't capture them. Also, I had a peppermint shrimp in the tank, which had eggs under its legs, not sure if the eggs finally hatched? I took him out of the tank a week ago. Try and spot them in this picture, please let me know what you guys think they are....

You sure they are pods? I mean I really hope they are. Could they be anything else? I also dipped the chateo before putting it in my tank...

Does it only take two? Like I said I only saw a couple pods run off the frags, could two pods make a thousand babies??

Yeah it doesn't take them long to get to numbers like that. I have millions because I don't have anything that eats them.

Yup, pods. I had an explosion of them a while back. Disappeared as fast as they showed up. Definitely a good thing.

They're like cockroaches, for every one you see there are a thousand that you cant.

I put literally 2 pods in my biocube and a few weeks later I had thousands of them, so yes it only takes 2:)

That's awesome! I was just going to order some actually hah. Why are they on the glass, and not crawling around on the sand? Also do clownfish eat them? What about corals?

In the ocean everything eats everything

With an explosion like that it means there was a lot of food. Once they finish cleaning it for you the numbers will go down.

Will I always have a colony of pods now at least?

I had the same thing happen and had the same reaction as you. I never see them anymore, but my Angel nips at the rocks a lot, so I know they are probably still there - just not in such large numbers.

One question, why are they all covering the glass, and not crawling around on the substrate?

if they are on the glass roaming around it's pods. They will dissapear like flies when the fish eats them but if you see them swimming it could be that your shrimp farted babies out. i had a pregnant peppermint shrimp once before and while i was staring at my tank she was out and all of a sudden she just gave a big push and looked like smoke popped out of her the water got cloudy and i see all of these small shrimps swiming and then my fish went crazy and ate them. so it's either or.
