This coral is coming tomorrow from Live Aquaria's Divers Den. After purchasing I've found that there may be more issues with buying wild colonies than I first thought. Any advice or tips on dipping and acclimating this species? My setup is a 40 breeder with 30 gal sump, skimmer less, and the main filtration is from the live rock and a refugium with macro and xenia. Lighting is an ati 4 bulb 36 inch fixture with a mix of UVL and ati bulbs. I do very limited water changes but my sps(at least 12 different types) all have good color and decent growth. Honestly I don't remember the last time I lost a sps frag or colony. For cal and alk I dose kalk.

Add to tank in lower light then usual and slowly move to its final spot.

Don't shake it in the dip to violently. Gently dip and use a turkey baster. Be gentle. Wild are way more stressed out from collection and shipping.

I agree with the posts above. But also when you’re dipping the corals and moving from dip to tank water container rinse. Don’t hold them very long in the air. Try to keep them wet. Some acro are really sensitive to being out of the water.

Good luck!!

I don't have bayer but I do have Revive(old bottle) Tropic Marin(old bottle) and All Out dip(not as old). Recomendations??

Well, if it’s out dated I would be a little worried to use it. Bayer is cheap and you can pick it up at any hardware store. It’s the only thing really proven to kill red bugs on acros. It’s the safest bet as far as killing hitch hikers but make sure they’re rinsed really well before adding to the tank. The bayer can harm inverts.

nice pink tip sarmentosa, i have got a few boxes from fiji in the past, you will probably have a acro crab in the colony. See if you can remove it before you dip the coral as they are great to keep.
