my fuzzy shrooms have done this before too. not sure why, seems like guts splling out. hopefully someone with knowledge will come help.

I got all excited at first thinking it's more mushrooms! But I researched with Google and apparently as you said its guys which shows it's either stressed or defending itself and they can sting things that touches them? (Mixed opinions online) x

I have done before, is that not a good way to add the salt? I'm still quite new to this learning dos and donts...

Just researched found out should mix salt into new water first, will do this from now on. Will my mushrooms be ok?

You need to add salt to rodi water separately in jug or something then pour salt water into display not pour salt directly into display tank. Personally I make saltwater in a different bin and add a power head and heater and let it sit for a few days before I add to display. If ur topping off u shouldn't have to add salt because the water evaporates not the salt content.

Thank you I do my tank a different way at the moment I don't use ro water because local shops don't do them and not worth getting ro system for my 20g tank. I use dechlorinator to tap water ( I know people have mixed opinions but it's been fine for me) and then I boil a cup of water and add to tap water to bring up temp then add the dechlorinator and another chemical which stops fish stressing out and also lowers nitrates as they have been on about 10ppm lately but going down slowly. Going to buy some ro water from fish shop this week. I heard boiling water gets rid of oxygen for tank but as I only boil a tiny amount is that ok? Or shall I buy another heater? Thanks.

With a 20 gal tank I would recommend frequent small water changes. Im not sure your current weather where you live or temp in house. But I would suggest just changing like a gallon or so every 3 or 4 days. You dont want to shock your system with a 5 gallon water change with water that's parameters aren't the same alk, cal and all that stuff. So just take your time but you should be fine without a heater if you keep the water changes small and there isn't a drastic difference in temp.

I live in England so it is about 17c here at the moment. Thing is our hot tap water is connected to the boiler in the loft ( not very pure) unlike the cold tap water which is why I use boiled water instead but that's ok using a tiny amount right? Then I add the chemicals + the salt to get the salt up to same as one in tank then add the water, I do a water change every week about 10/20 % is that ok? Then pour it into the back chambers of tank so it gets pushed out by pumps. Z

Done water change today, ph has gone down from 8.2 to jut under 8 I think about 7.4 (colours very similar) will my mushrooms be okay? Does anyone know why this could of happened? I tried to get nitrates down as they are about 20ppm/10ppm can't tell which colours similar again. Cleaned out black foam an skimmer along with sand bed with siphon, trying to work out what could of lowered it?

they are expelling their guts, corals do this to fight, sometimes to feed/expell food.. I've never seen shrooms do it but they don't look unhealthy.. they should be okay I'd think..

and don't add salt to your tank, mix with ro/di like stated above.

Help! Coral shrivelling up! Ph is low! 7.4 any thing to help an save the corals? Or could they be shrivelling cause I moved them and they don't like teir new place? X
