I have had some trouble with tangs and its probably my bad luck but they have all died for no reason. Im going to hult on buying any more tangs and i want some easy to keep fish but they have to look good.

Just so others can help you a little easier what size tank do you have and are you looking for reef safe or options for a Fowler? Also a list of fish that you have in the tank would help as well.

I'll second the coral beauty. Here's an old picture of mine next to a clownfish:

Yellow Assessor Basslet
Royal Gramma
Firefish (make sure you have a lid!!)
Flasher Wrasses
Fairy wrasses
Godzilla
Cardinal Fish (I like Bangai and some of the more brightly colored ones)
Coral Beauty
Black Cap Basslet
Evil murderfish .. I mean.. Damsels

I also like black caps. I have one with a bicolor and no issues. They’re shy at first but once u give them a week to adjust they’re always out and about

i dont think godzilla would fit in a 65 gallon tank

Magnificent Foxface
Pretty much any Basslett (Swales, Chalk, Swissguard are my favs)
Starry or Ember Blenny
Pajama Cardinals
Pair of clowns
Red stripe tilefish (need a lid)
Bella Angels
Copper Band Butterfly (j/k)

My absolute favorite:
McCullochi Dottyback Male (hard to find and $$) (need a lid)

My Coral Beauty lives with 5 Green Chromis, 2 Ocellaris, 1 Banggai Cardinal, and 1 Condy Anemone. I have zoanthids and montiporas. 6 snails. Everyone gets along. It is surprising how much algae the Coral Beauty eats. I just added an hour to my light because he’s running out of stuff to peck at. 36 gallon tank. 25 pounds of live rock. Coral beauty needs a lot of places to swim in and out of. Caves, arches, and spaces between rocks. He swims and grazes all day long. Too bad having more is not recommended.

Vlamingi tang, great personality and eats everything. I can hand feed and pet him on the top. Doesn't even flinch

You gotta read details. It’s a 65 gallon tank and the OP said they were done trying tangs and wanted other options for easy nice looking fish.

Any ideas why the tangs died? Pretty easy fish in a seasoned tank with algae to constantly graze on. Nori.
Have a Yellow, a Hippo, a Purple and a Bristletooth all getting along in a 3yo 90 with 100 pounds rock.

Fairy wrasse or a orchid dottyback
