What are some "pest" corals that you like?

I'm planning a new build that should be running in the next couple of months. I was initially planning to only keep my favorite corals that are unlikely to overgrow their neighbors, but I've changed my mind and decided to just have distinct areas for those types of corals. I'm looking for corals that aren't likely to show up in a location in my tank without having to grow over to that location. For instance I was going to avoid monti caps because I don't like scraping them off of rocks when they grow rapidly and kill their neighboring acros, but now I'm just going to dedicate a separated rock to montis and I'll remove that entire rock when the need arises - I'm not concerned about montipora showing up on a different rock 4 feet away because that's pretty unlikely.

What are some corals you like, but you tend to avoid them because you're concerned that they will overgrow and kill their neighbors via stings, shade, toxins, etc.?

I love all the supposed pest corals , GSP, Kenya tree, Xenia , palys, anthelia, clove polyps. I’m keeping a primarily BTA anemone tank so I’m not mad if any corals happen to be stung and they look pretty to me

At this stage I am just enjoying the living thing the marine water itself is as it's parameters fluctuate briefly during the day, as it normally does.. how temp affects salinity and parameters.. noticing my clam with it's intake and exit open but snuggled up and not overly open and am glad not to have a coral that might hurt it in sight. Live rock is an adventure... One giant pet rock scape that develops beings and organisms that might make a munch outa my clam, so I am saving that for another tank.. then after a few years of just letting rock be rock, maybe I will try again with coral.

Right now my captain jerk paly is the only thing that isn't suffering from the cyano mess I'm dealing with. Def my favorite weedy coral. Gsp is hit or miss for me ive had it be invasive in some tanks and had it regress and not do well in other tanks.

I dont think there is much risk of many of the "pest" corals just showing up in other parts of the tank. Kenya trees of course would be an exception. Thats the only one I think of as a pest that spreads rapidly in random locations rather than just growing out from the colony/frag.

As far as pests that I like I would say GSP, xenia, and mohawk palys (under very high light) are my favorites

I just rehomed a Blue clove polyp that I got free. Read about how it propagates and the horror stories. Got a xenia instead. It is manageable and so pretty.

My husband LOVES Xenia and GSP. We have rock islands planned specifically for them. We plan to get the WWC Fireworks Xenia. And a GSP rock. I also have a pedestal rock for a Zoa garden
