What are some really easy corals for beginners that I can keep?

I did some quick search and most people say softies, leathers, mushrooms,... But how easy is easy? Do I have to dose calcium and all the stuff like you dose with freshwater plants? Do I need premium high light?

My tank is 75gal. Light is Current Usa IC Pro. Age is one month old (I heard many people say it doesn't matter how old the tank is though).

Leathers and softies require less then other corals and dont require dosing cal and alk. They also dont require high light so a semi okay light will work. How old the tank is does kinda matter it let's you know how mature the tank is.

Hey, same as you starting my coral journey. I have a 75 with Current USA lights. I just ordered some Zoas and Xenias from some local people. Both told me that I didn't really need to worry about dosing and that my lights should be fine.

Green star polyp is super easy, candy canes are suppose to be easy as well (I've never had luck with them, not sure why). Your right in mostly softies tho, they tend to be less work then some others. Biggest thing is to make sure you feed properly, after lighting that is

Interesting you have the same light and tank size. Is it the IC Pro version?

No dosing with softies. Xenia, leathers. Gsp, and shrooms all are very forgiving. They need decent light but nothing super expensive.

If you're willing to dose a little candy canes, hammers, and frogspawn are my favorites.

These all survived my newb stagr yrs ago before we had decent internet

Good beginner corals are leathers and mushrooms, as long as you are not trying to keep a low nutrient tank. Most beginners tend to over feed the fish causing higher nutrient levels. Leathers and mushrooms like this. They will grow but not get out of control like GSP and some others.

I'm going to disagree a bit with xenia as a beginner coral, at least for me it was super easy when I had strong lighting, a metal halide over a 38 gallon, it really did like higher calcium (it made it pulse better).

I tried xenia again in a different setup with just power compacts for lighting and it never took off again, while duncans, candy canes, mushrooms, nepthia all did fine in the same tank and grew well.

Mushrooms, gsp and leathers would be good starters. Duncan coral are relatively easy as well.
