Hello I have a 29 gallon FOWLR and have a Strawberry Dottyback in Quarantine along side a Yellow Tail Damsel I want my 29 gallon display Tank to be a Tank Full of Fish That have the reputation of being little devils that no one wants in there community tank. My goal is to have a aggressive or semi aggressive nano tank full of every color from red, yellow, blue, purple ect. What are some other fish that come to your mind I’m trying to stay away from predatory fish like lions and eels I want to focus on smaller colorful fish that have a bad reputation like damsels, I already have a Dottyback, Mabey a Wrasse but that else I was also thinking of a tomato or cinnamon clown mabey a maroon. I want anywhere from 3-5 fish in the tank depending on size / bio load. I already have a 55 community tank with more docile fish so I wanted to do something different.

I think a hawkfish would fit into that tank, a 29g isn't alot of room so lightly stocked. The more fish you can get with varying habits the best. Although pushing the size requirements, maybe a cherub angel, I had one in a BC29 for years and loved that fish.

You might be the rare case where I would recommend a 6 line wrasse for a community tank given the tank mates.

Agree, you can't have a tank themed with problem fish without a six line! o_O :p Interested to see how this no holds barred contest turns out.

I would not recommend the cinnamon or tomato clown in a tank that size.

i think i'd definitely understock that thing, idk about the dottyback with sixline i feel like they'd battle to the death since they both want to own the rocks, but i could see it working. two heavyweight fighters squaring off and then coming to a truce? lol

i'd do the dottyback, pair of more aggressive clowns, and then 1-2 of: hawkfish, small angel, or maybe more damsels. possibly the aggressive, but smaller damsels.. like the fiji blue devil

this is actually a fairly cool idea, i pondered the idea of doing a similar nano tank. mine was going to center around the purple stripe dottyback and fiji blue devil which i think just beautiful fish, but it's hard to find other fish that can hang in a tank that aggressive

Usually does not work like that, if you put 4 aggressive fish in a small tank one will be the most aggressive and kill the rest.
There are exceptions to the rule. But fish are territorial and fish like dottybacks can be aggressive and will be relentless..

Sometimes two aggressive fish can live together if they are not after the same territory.. My clarkii clownfish got along with my neon dottyback..

Strawberry dottybacks, along with most dottys, aren't great choices for small tanks, unfortunately. They are better suited for larger tanks with larger tankmates, like tangs, angels, triggers, butterflies.
