What are some ways that you control nitrates and Phosphates without doing water changes?

I'm trying to learn of other ways of managing Nitrate and Phosphate other than water changes. Please help me out by answering the poll and describing your methods in the comments.

Personally I use rowaphos for phosphate and keep it locked down below around .03 and for nitrate I use Seachem Matrix (and a lot of it), but there are other types of similar media.

Ive also used Nopox (carbon dosing) but not so much these days.
