What are the 3 prongs on a pressure switch?

Without a photo I'm guessing but the switch probably has both normally open and normally closed contacts as well as the common contact. It can be used as an upper or lower switch depending on how it is wired. Some switches can have the orientation rotated, other are wired one or the other.
