Transparent almost like a soft coral. Seems to be growing upwards and branching off. There are many of them stemming from the same rock

If I'm looking at what I think you want us to they are zoas. And agree move them to a higher lit areaThey are zoas but are really stretching for light. I suggest moving them up
Are you referring to the white "stringy" things coming up in the middle of the zoas? If so, those look like some sort of sponge, not bad, but can annoy the zoas,Transparent almost like a soft coral. Yes I thought they were sponges. But they look unsightly!!! Can I get rid of them in any way? They have plenty of light. I bought them like this so presume they grew like this. Are you referring to the white "stringy" things coming up in the middle of the zoas? Also, I second they want more light.
I'm doing this. But they grow back at a rediclous rate. At least they are not harmful.+1 sponges . Just pluck them off.
For colonies I have gotten in the past with sponges on them that I did not want, I peroxide dipped them and then used a soft tooth brush to scrub the sponges off. In the below link is a thread with the different kinds of dips, the safety precautions, etc for zoas and palys. Post 3 is where they discuss a peroxide dip and how to do it.I'm doing this.
