What are these little guys?

can anyone identify these little guys? Are they a type of sponge? If so anyone know the name? Are they safe? I have quite a lot of them in my sump.

Ok I ha e hundreds of them growing on the walls in my sump.

That's awesome they are harmless filter feeders.

@ebushrow is correct and they are an excellent living filter in your sump. I actually have them growing inside the body of skimmer if you can believe that.

It's a new tank. Lots of yummy silicates right now to help build strong sponge bones.
