What are these things on this coral ?

So i had to use this picture i found online. But i saw this on a new york nicks torch coral in a store the other day. And ive never seen this before. Is this a disease or ? It was on the ring of the torch coral head in random spots. The coral looked otherwise healthy

Look at the skeleton.. yes its coral. I found out they are called misenterial filaments

I don’t know about torches but my mushrooms let out a stringy like goo that looks like that when splitting. Not very helpful but that’s my info. B

These can be common. Mesenterial filaments which are packed with nematocysts and digestive enzymes can destroy adjacent coral tissue are string-like extensions of the mesenteries and the internal folds of tissue create a structure within a coral polyp’s body. They are typically bright white and full of nematocysts - specialized stinging cells that corals use to capture and kill prey, and to sting their competitors.
