How's it going guys. My reef tank is 4 months old, today i was closely observing my tank and discovered some things that don't look normal. There is these things growing out the sides of my hammer coral, there is this white fuzz growing on my candy cane corals sides and there is this white thing growing on the side of my rock. Can you help me identify them all?

Wow guys that is so great to hear. My corals have been doing great so i was wondering what are all these things that are growing. So are they beneficial to a tank? Do the sponges need food? I have not read on sponges at all.

Yes, beneficial, very. They filter their food from the water column and do not need any care or to be fed. Even more awesome, they will assist in keeping your water clean. :D

Will they grow in size?
Will the sponges growing out the size of the hammer affect the hammer in any way? My hammer coral has gone from 1 head to 3 heads in about 2 months.

The ones on the hammer called pineapple sponges they'll disappear after a while as your tank mature is more. However they don't and won't harm your Hammer at all :)
The other sponges do grow larger in size but they still don't harm anything

And... It gets even better. The larger other sponges often times will spread and you will get them in other spots too. ;Woot

Thanks man. I love the fact that my tank seems to be doing pretty great. As this is my first tank. I also have one more question, i dont have a picture of it but the glass on my tank has been developing these hard rock like grains about the size of the ball on a ball point pen (don't know what else to compare it too) its stuck to the glas but if i scrape it , it comes off.

I have those as well, still haven't figured out what they are.

Most likely coraline algae. It mostly comes in white, green, and purple. Desirable on rocks, but definitely not on the glass, LOL.
