LPS Mesenterial Filaments?
My corals have been going down one by one for the past few weeks. Are these mesenterial filaments or something parasitic? Thanks in advance for your support here, R2R world!www.reef2reef.com
Yes see photo now.looks like it's out if water correct ?
Does it look like the image in post number 1 in thread I share above ?
Like curly white bits ? If so then yeah
Thanks. And I think you mean mesenterial filaments. They didn't look like those to me, but I could be wrong.Umm interesting .
Will call others more experienced in.
Just looking your pictures now they uploaded and some them white pieces actually sticking up on their own which I wouldn't of thought mesamental filaments would do.

Indeed ha ha mesa -MENTAL lolThanks. And I think you mean mesenterial filaments. They didn't look like those to me, but I could be wrong.
2nd on this one. Feather worms have a lot of names, there are micro ones and large ones. These in the pictures never get that large. They keep small. They are feather duster worms, sometimes called fan worms. They are harmless, though they can reproduce quickly and clog up pumps/equipment, but no need to remove them IMO.

I believe may be tube worms. Filaments are generally more stringy looking

I missed the stringy as mentioned so would be filamentsOp states "white, soft, flowy, filamentous strings all over."
I always thought feather dusters/ tube worms lived in a hard tube unless worm ditched it home and moved and then built another in different place.
With op saying flow,I took this as moves with the flow so not saying you wrong but having hard time understanding how the tubes would move with the flow ?
Or you think there all just the worm itself without its crown and without its tube.
Just very curious how all you 3 very experienced reefers ( much more so than me) all get to feather dusters from " white, soft, flowy, filamentous strings all over."?
I’m just going off the photos, the ‘fans’ or crowns of these worms are soft, flowy, and somewhat filamentous. It very well could be mesenterial filaments, that wasn’t a bad guess, but I don’t see any in the photos (can be hard to see them out of water).Op states "white, soft, flowy, filamentous strings all over."

i get what you are saying. I assumed he meant the feathered crown of the worms. As they can range in color. White, green, gold, brown, red. Some are long and stringy looking.Yeah photos do look like the tubes of tube/ fan worms but op description doesn't sound like it.
I guessed mesenterial filaments before seeing photos but seeing photo threw me totally off course.
I did think some kind of worm at first but thought a soft worm, would it just perch there waving in the flow .
I know I got lots spinibod worms ( probably spelt wrong again lol, them with 2 tentacles) but as I say got 2 tentacles sticking out.
Anyway I defer to you 3 as you got more experience each in your little finger than I have total ^_^
