What are these white things in my tank?

Can someone tell me what these white things are growing in my tank? And are they harmful?

Other more experienced reefers might correct me. but it looks like Aiptasia- a pest anemone. You'll want to do a nice google on it and act aggressively to get rid of them straight away as they are invasive and can be very destructive!

They look like aiptasia anemones that have been in the dark a while. You can google aiptasia removal to find a myriad of ways to get rid of them pest anemones. I personally am fond of using kalkwasser paste to kill them.

Some folks use a syringe with a needle and inject 'em with lemon juice!

Agreed, they appear to be bleached Aiptasia.

Thanks for all the prompt responses. Now that I know what they are I will research and get rid of these guys. Hopefully for good.

Looks like aiptasia. A variety of ways to get rid of them. Many use lemon juice or kalkwasser.

These are a great excuse to get some peppermint shrimp! Those little guys will gobble the aiptasia right up!

I used and still us a matted filefish link to eradicated and keep the system clean of apitasia. If you do not hit then just right in the mouth the apitasia spread very fast.

This fish has been on my list for a while. How 'reef safe' are they, in say, a mixed reef (softies through sps)?

I have had one in my system for about a year and a half. I have a mixed reef and keep him feed. He seems to like mysis and nori. cool looking fish to watch.

I have bonded pair in my lps tank but had to get rid of them cuz it kept trying to munch on corals even though I fed heavily. But they are really interesting fish to watch.
